Reclaimed Floor Kitchen Design Office Walkway

Sustainability, recycling and the circular economy were unsurprisingly core initiatives for LWARB’s new headquarters in Moorgate. Work surfaces, manufactured by Smile Plastics, were created from recycled yoghurt pots; Urbnrok produced a kitchen worktop from LWARB’s stripped out glazed partitioning; timber flooring to the breakout area was reclaimed wood from the Royal College of Surgeons in Holloway; and tables were made by Opendesk which is an initiative supporting local manufacturing.

It was essential that LWARB’s principles were reflected in their new design and refurbishment, to remind each member of staff how the work they does makes a direct impact on everyone around them and to demonstrate to visitors how principles of circular economy can be realised in an office fitout. Working in a beautiful space that has been sourced both ethically, sustainably and with as low carbon emissions as possible becomes a living breathing example of how environmentally-friendly design can be woven into the workplace.
