A New Space for The National Lottery Heritage Fund

New reception design and build for national lottery

The National Lottery Heritage Fund, formerly the Heritage Lottery Fund, distributes a share of National Lottery funding supporting a wide range of heritage projects across the United Kingdom.

We worked with the executive team to envision their new space in 1 St Katharine’s Docks; an 8,000 sq ft floor-plate with views over the docks to one side and the Tower of London on the other.

The move from a traditional office space in Sloane Square, over multiple floors to a single floor-plate signified a shift in culture and with the client keen to embrace activity based working we worked with change management expert Hannah Nardini, to implement a programme for helping the staff to transition to the new space.

Marti Lee, AW lead designer, speaks of how ‘the space needed to give the right impression to visitors and staff on entering the floor; modern, classy, with it being important to show the progression of the workplace, but not ostentatious or over the top. Reception and waiting spaces were key in the design to welcome visitors with the kitchen and breakout space the hub of the floor-plate as a multi functioning zone where staff and visitors can meet, eat and relax.’

Hot desking, lockers, phone booths, meeting pods and folding walls have been installed on the floor and the project has been hailed a success for the Fund.
